| 内容記述 | Nāga is cobra with some heads and nāgarājas are the king of nāga tribe. Nāga is a guardian in Buddhism. Nāga had played a role ofprosperity and fertility of the land. In religious art nāgarāja is represented by a cobra and a human figure, among India, Sri Lanka, and Southeast Asia. Especially in Sri Lanka, nāgarāja is represented on the guard stones placed at the entrances of temples and royal palaces.The purpose of this paper is to consider how the nāgarāja images in Sri Lanka developed, how they developed among India and Southest Asia. Chapter 1 refers to nāgarāja and what its symbolism. Chapter 2 deals with the nāgarāja images from India, Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam. We will also consider how they evolved in each region. Chapter 3 we will take up the examples of Sri Lanka and compare them with India and Southeast Asia in previous chapter, and consider their influence. | |||||
